Completing My Dissertation and Concluding My Post Grad Forensic Science Journey at NFSU
On July 16th, I experienced a whirlwind of emotions as I stood at the crossroads of my academic journey and professional life. This significant day marked the completion of my MSc in Forensic Science, with a dissertation on Molecular Fingerprinting, at the National Forensic Sciences University, Delhi Campus, formerly known as LNJN-NICFS.
The Viva: A Test of Knowledge and Nerves
The day began with the much-anticipated viva voce for my dissertation. Preparing for the viva was no small feat, and the stress leading up to it was palpable. However, it was also an opportunity to showcase the hard work, dedication, and countless hours of study and research I had poured into my dissertation. The viva was intense, as expected, but also rewarding as it allowed me to discuss my research on Molecular Fingerprinting with experts in the field.
Discussing Future Prospects: Paper Publication
Following the viva, I had a productive discussion about the publication of my research paper. The possibility of contributing to the academic community through publication is both exciting and daunting. It signifies the transition from a student to a contributor in the field of forensic science.
A Moment of Celebration
After the formalities, it was time to celebrate this monumental achievement. My classmates and I, all specializing in Fingerprint and Questioned Document (FP-QD) analysis, gathered to capture this memorable day in photographs. Each picture taken with our dissertations in hand symbolized the culmination of our hard work and the beginning of our professional journeys.
Cake-Cutting Ceremony: Sweet Endings and New Beginnings
To cap off the day, we celebrated with a cake-cutting ceremony. Surrounded by friends who had shared this journey, it was a moment of joy, relief, and camaraderie. The cake-cutting was not just a celebration of completing our dissertations but also a symbolic farewell to our student life and a toast to the responsibilities awaiting us in the real world.
Reflections and Gratitude
Reflecting on this journey, I am filled with gratitude for the experiences and knowledge gained at the National Forensic Sciences University. The transition from student life to the professional world is a significant milestone, and I am eager to embrace the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead.
In conclusion, July 16th was not just a day of completing a milestone but a celebration of growth, learning, and the start of a new chapter in life. As I step into the world of responsibilities, I carry with me the memories, knowledge, and friendships forged during this incredible journey.
